What is the Function Database?

We can use the function database when we are looking to deliver an alternative or more effective method of delivering a function than we are currently achieving. To do this the function database has been created as a collection of knowledge detailing known means of delivering certain key functions.

Why use the Function Database?

An encyclopaedia of solutions arranged by function offers a useful start point to first identifying and then finding out more about what alternatives there may be. This kind of function classification of knowledge is a very effective way of stripping away the boundaries that exist between different industries and scientific disciplines.

The database is provided primarily to make the user aware of the different possible methods available, but also to help in understanding how to apply each method. The list of effects should also act as search strings when using on-line methods of finding out more about a given function deliverer.

How to use the Function Database…

Using the ‘Search Function’ box on the left simply:
  1. Select the state of the ‘object’ you wish to operate on e.g. liquid
  2. In the ‘Select Function’ drop down menu select the function you want to perform on the ‘object’
  3. Click ‘Go’
  4. Study the different methods available for performing your function from the Search Results

Disclaimer
We endeavour to keep the Function Database as complete as possible and it is constantly evolving, however we recognise the possibility that some additional methods of delivering a function may exist that are not currently included. We are always trying to improve the database so if you are aware of an additional method not included we would welcome any suggestions you have at functioinfo@creax.com
